Good voice, but he gets the pronounciations all wrong. Which kinda ruins it for me.

Ok so i listened to both back to back and i dont think Potts quite met the same pitch that Neil could make, and with this particular song I have to give Neil the better performance.

ok. i agree. he's really GREAT. however, it's true, he does need lessons so that he can fine tune it. he ran out of breath, but it was still very impressive. however, i think he cut it short. i felt he didn't sing enough. nevertheless, he DOES have talent.

Not as good as Paul Potts

If you feel that way, then why do you care to even write? How do you define skill? Can you name me a minor opera house that wouldn't take this guy? Do you really know multiple people in their TEENS who could sing Nessun Dorma? Really??? And what High School do you teach at?

ALAN:
This guy's quality isn't really all that impressive. He's ok but I don't think he has the skill to be singing opera even in minor roles in minor opera houses yet. He still needs a lot of training because, honestly, I know people in their teens who could sing this song with higher quality vibrato, tonality, dynamics, language, breath control and acting skill (It's theater for goodness' sake; why is he standing stationary?). I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I really think he needs some music classes.

to SAriverwalkArts: Your statement is ridiculous. I need you to go out on that stage and show Neal that his audience response came from the "beauty of the selection" and not his performance. Better yet, why don't you personally show him how its done. I'm sure you could since you are obviously WAY above sub-par yourself. Right?

Chana:
I have heard many tenors attempt to sing this powerful aria, unfortunately their voice falls short of the power and vocal technique needed to perform this song in entirety. The beauty of this selection is in the music and still effective for the audience despite the lack of vocal talent. Honestly this is a really less than sub-par vocal. Puccini is rolling in his grave... This is not the best America has to offer, even for a amautuer performance.

I gotta admit he broke at the end of the song. He sound good just the same.

I think we should get all of the judges tickets to the Metropolitan Opera. Force them to sit through a performance with Roberto Alagna or Placido Domingo, and then see if they are still taken with Neal.

Gavriel:
Agreed. Perhaps I wouldn't have taken such a strong disliking to their performances if they hadn't chosen a piece that Pavarotti has made so well known. Personally, I've only heard two versions I actually liked that weren't exclusively Pavarotti singing: One was Placido Domingo. The other was when all of the three tenors sang it. They needed to pick a different aria.

Ariyan:
I'm unimpressed. His vibrato sounded unnatural. An opera singer must sing with vibrato, but it also must be controlled. When certain singers perform this aria, the high B leaves me breathless. This high B had me wincing. I am perfectly aware that it is not an easy note to hit--I have to use a high B as well. It doesn't sound like he was trained to sing that piece and since opera is a very technical form of music training is absolutely essential.

Caileigh:
freaksinger96, I went to my Turandot score, played through it,listened to Potts and Boyd, then Pavarotti's videos. All 3 sing in the original key of G Major. Please don't try to imply they aren't each great singers. Go to a piano and try to sing a high B with the same power Neal E. Boyd did. It's just hard to believe he's only 32. He's not even close to his prime(45 usually for most tenors). I don't think audiences will be able to handle it when he is!

JOSU:
It would be nice if he can sing the right key. Since he claim an operatic singer. This is a Tenor peace.
