It took his death for me to realize what an immense influence Richard had on the sound of Pink Floyd. After I got news of his death, I played the 'dark side' album again and again and just sat awe struck at the binding chord of his key board! I must have heard that album a thousand times in my life but never realized that without Richard's unobtrusive bonding keyboard that album would not have been the one we so love! He is a genius who did not bother about press conference! What a man!
RIP!

Beautifully put, i must say i fully agree with you. His contributions to music were immaculate be it with floyd, gilmour, or as an amazingly talented solo artist.

the most beautiful comment i've ever heard about Rick Wright was...
The Great Rick In The Sky!
January 8th, 2009 | 11:17:10
Ah, I thought it sounded pretty Gilmourish.
January 8th, 2009 | 11:40:09
its improvised, sounds nowhere like the orginal solo,,,,
January 8th, 2009 | 12:03:08
Wright and Gilmour always sound great singing together.
This is the first time I've heard this song, is Gilmour covering the solo or making it up?

You're right....I think they went out on a high note with the Live 8 reunion.
January 8th, 2009 | 13:12:05
Honestly,
I only found out about Rick's death a few days ago, but it didn't make the impact of the news any less. To me, Rick Wright was the central sound of Pink Floyd. His style was dark yet elegant, and his chord progressions were pioneering. He was one of my biggest influences in music and I feel it is a great loss. I know he's jamming with Syd in that great gig in the sky.

I just thought about this today.
When I hear Roger or David I think of them specifically....
But When I hear Ricks Shaky voice,
I immediately think....Pink Floyd.
Man, he was such a Huge part of Floyd....
