its a tweleve string bass,they're made by hamer. each normal bass string has three octaves of that note.for example: aswell as the normal E string there would be another two thinner strings next to it,both tuned to E,this is why there are so many knobs on thead stock.paul also uses it on the song twelve twelve

the part around 1:08 or 1:10 sounds inspired by the solo from over the mountain. no, i'm not knocking paul, every guitarist does that, whether they realize it or not... on that same solo randy played the riff from "black sabbath" without realizing it... so i'm not calling paul a copycat or anything, before anyone starts bitching... just sounds similar to one of the descending runs in the solo, maybe they're related to the same chord.
