Jimmy borrowed from the royalty of British guitar players: Davey Graham, Bert Jansch and John Renbourne, and he's playing their styles very well here. This performance would have been an utter bore if he had gentlemanly shared the stage with Beck & Clapton. This is gorgeous.

You guys have to remember that this was Jimmy right after he kicked his heroin addiction. Did you really expect the man to be at the top of his game?

To play this without letting Jeff or Eric take the melody is would have been ok if he had worked the melody into his guitar part. Plus his execution is not good. I could burn this down on solo guitar.

If you knew anything about the 1983 ARMs tour, you would know that all three guitarist had their own time allocated for their own set. This was part of Jimmy's set. He was not supposed to share it. Beck and Clapton joined in at the very end for moral support only.

jimmy was a jerk here, you cant just take the spotlight for a whole song (though it is his song) and not share it with ERIC CLAPTON AND JEFF BECK!!! thats stupid, i couldnt even hear eric or jeff.

From a technical stand point, most would agree that Beck is incredible. This prbably was Page's point. But there is so much more to it, IMHO. What sounds good, albums/music that last, that you want to crank when you hear them on the radio, showmanship, who inspires the imagination, influence. Sure, they are both in the same profession, but Page used the same ingredients and took it to a place Beck could only dream of.

Of course you are right Jimmy Page is so dumb for ever thinking that Beck was better what in the Hell was Page thinking? I mean he has now Idea what he is talking about only the masses know who is better so on that logic any one who sold more albums than Led Zeppelin would be better ie...Michael Jackson's guitar player DO YOU KNOW WHY PAGE HIRED PLANT OR COPIED 3 songs from truth for the new yardbirds first album it is only PAGE'S words that you do not RESPECT only his playing

Jimmy's quote " when he's on, he is the best there is." But how do you measure the qualities of a rock guitarist? Beck plays music that only a niche audience can stand to listen to. Zep 1 humiliated "Truth". Most people would rather watch Page play one song and screw it up than to watch Beck play 50 songs flawlessly. 10's of millions of fans can't be wrong, Jimmy created a pure rock excitement that Beck could only dream of. And Page blasted Beck out of the Yardbirds when they played duel lead.
