It was a linux box. You can have a connection to a machine like that through a citrix. So thus, your technical knowledge is suspect.

The idiot guy could have re-arranged his icons the way they were by just pressing the reset button on his computer before closing session or doing the windows shutdown.
btw around 2:40-3:00 is impossible, you can't have a remote connection to a computer that's booting, ie. before the network stuff is even loaded.

I haven't watched the video yet (only heard the soundtrack) but my guess is he's running Windows XP server, not XP. The sessions he's viewing are not on his computer, they are on another computer, connected with remove access, from which he can switch between.
That's my guess anyway, of course he could be running a heavily customized Linux system, but I really doubt that.
