All Steinway are not bright.

the olders ones, maybe, but i think he would be more favorable to Grotrian!

Cindi:
I think he would have liked some though

Pleyel is the piano Chopin favored. I don't think he would favor Steinway at all

NG5712-Rap is not music!! Music is singing or playing an instrument.Rap is poetry at best, and that too -of a low level.

optimusito: And I agree with the preference thing. It is hard to judge what is good or bad 'cause as you imply, criticism is never totally objective. Personal opinion always interferes, whether it's music, movies, and other things. As I said I don't agree with saying someone or something is the best. Maybe that it's 'good', but not best. This must be one of those rare YT moments where a discussion ended peacefully. ;)

In that case yes, its better that you like this. You are totally wright and seeing that you have such an interest i have to say that im sorry about my words. But you have to keep in mind that preferences do not make somethig bad or good. It just makes it prefered. The criterion is different than taste. Im dont disagree with their preferences, but disagree with the fact of saying that he is the best. Its the favourite, but not tha best. Again im sorry.

optimusito: I don't agree with saying he's the best either. Or any pianist for that matter. The reason I mentioned 'dissected animal' was because you came off as condescending. Especially when you called me 'stupid' and 'Clown'. Insults don't prove a point. You should be glad that I at least listen to this music instead of something like rap.

Thrisha:
If they like cortot and prefer him, it just makes cortot as favourite, but not necesarily the best interpreter. You can like and prefer something, but its doesnt make it good or bad. The judgement is different than preferences. You see the difference betwen taste and knowledge? I dont disagree with the fact of prefering cortot. I disagree wit saying that he is the best, because definitively he has some problems. There are a lot of pianists who could really be the bests.

PENINAH:
I enjoy a lot of cortots playing. And "historically" is the nearest idea chopin that has been recorded, but it doesnt make him the best interpreter. You have wrigth to an opinion, but dont comment it pls because your opinions are subjectives. By the way, being objective doesnt mean that i examine music like some sort of dissected animal. Dont be stupid.

Sheilah:
optimusito: I have a right to an opinion. I don't claim to be a music expert. I have heard some of Cortot's playing and I think it's ok, but it's not as though he's my favorite. Apparently you like to examine music like some sort of dissected animal. I agree there should be a standard to compare perfomances by, but don't you agree that music is meant to be enjoyed? If someone likes Cortot that is THEIR choice, that doesn't mean you have to like it. No body likes a snob.

NORWARD:
What a stupid person you are. So the study of music is a matter of opinion and not of criterion? so when some one plays bad its a matter of opinion? the criterion is different than taste and a simple opinion. Please, dont write your opinions anymore until you have objective and profesional criterion. Clown.

Arjean:
i dont think anyikne will find "the best" interpreter of music of anykind, because no one seems to agree wholly with each other. it is however ultimately subjective, yes objkectivity does play a vital role, but it still boils down to personal preference..."do i accept the interpretation, his technique etc"??? its very opinionated.
August 7th, 2008 | 10:52:58
AMMA:
optimusito: Why is it wrong for people to prefer Cortot's performances over others? It is your opinion he is bad and it's their opinion he is good.
August 7th, 2008 | 11:15:57
STOCKARD:
do you think i dont know it? . That's the problem: they are wrong.
August 7th, 2008 | 11:38:56
POLYXENA:
optimusito: I'm not saying he is the best, I haven't heard many perfomances by him. But there are people out there who think he is very good.
August 7th, 2008 | 12:01:55
SI:
no, its a matter of criterion
August 7th, 2008 | 12:24:54
TAMIR:
optimusito: It's a matter of opinion.
August 7th, 2008 | 12:47:53
BRIGANTIA:
He is not the best interpreter of Chopin.

I have always loved Cortot - possibly for the reasons some people find fault with him. Such elegance! I think he may well be the Baudelaire of the piano....yes, I adore him!
