Yeah, but it pretty much set the standard for the genre for a long time, just like Kraftwerk's "Numbers" did for much of 1980's electronic dance music.

actually, those who think old school hip-hop is from 1983 to about 1990, ur wrong. old school, to be accurate, is from 1979--1984. so basically during those times, 2pac and biggie were in elementary or middle school or high school. and to tell you the truth, New School Hip Hop is from 1983-84, not from 84 to present. so new school cut into old school. Right now, we are in the Golden Age. GET YO FACTS STR8!

THEROW1 you don't know shit man, this is what hip hop is about, mad beats, mad lyrics, hip hop now is more pop, appealing to the masses, it commertialised, Rakim, KRS,Grand Master Flash, BDP, MC Shan Man that is what hip hop is about not this new bullshit
July 28th, 2008 | 22:04:59
You guys kill me saying that tupac dr dre and biggie are old school.. Old school is from around 1983 to about 1990 .. Do you remember rap from 1983? of course you don't. You were still swimming around in your dads nut sack. Rap music used to be about having a good time .. now its about your 26 inch rims and how many guns you have..
July 28th, 2008 | 22:27:58
not to mention the song Microphone Fiend thats some good shit...anyway what i mean by the rap for money/ they also just rap about the same shit over and over again, these days its more about just partying or dancin but a while ago it use to be about struggling in the hood...not that that shit is bad but you just cant rap about those 2 things your whole career ya kno
July 28th, 2008 | 22:50:57
hip-hop is boring today bcuz its played out...no one raps b/c they got somethin to say they just rap to make money and waste it on cocaine..hip-hop is about rapping about creative shit that you can make connections with other things....this version isnt the real song its the Coldcuts Remix...the real version is good lyrically but i dont like the beat, Juice/ Casualties of War now lsiten to that and tell me that aint good...plus FUCK SOULJA BOY EAT A DICK
